Methods: A total of 51 GST patientstreated in Affiliated Shengjing Hospital between January 2009 and November 2010 were recruited and divided into two groups. Thelaparoscopy group included 32 patients and the open surgery group included 19 patients. The sugical duration, postoperative recoveryand follow-up results were compared. Results: The surgical duration was 65.5 ± 9.8 min in laparoscopy group and 66.7 ± 10.7min inopen surgery group. The blood loss was 49.7 ± 7.5 mL in laparoscopy group and 148.8 ± 22.3 mL in open surgery group. The exhaus-tion duration was 24.8 ± 3.7 h in laparoscopy group and 34.7±5.6 h in open surgery group. The postoperative hospital stay was 6.3 ± 1.1d in laparoscopy group and 8.9 ± 1.4 d in open surgery group. During the follow-up period of 1~2 months, no postoperative recurrencewas observed. Conclusion:With safety and efficacy, laparoscopy can be a feasible choice for treating GST.Keywords Gastral stromal tumors; Laparoscopy; Surgery
